Bio
Bennett Johnson was born and raised in Wilson, NC. He attended East Carolina University for college, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education. In 2012, he moved to Goldsboro, NC. He taught secondary education in the school system and has coached middle and high school football for the last seven years.

Bennett joined the Silveus team in August of 2018. He became interested in crop insurance while watching his brother, Jacob Johnson, get gratification through his job by helping farmers. He has always admired the role of farmers and agriculture, and he respects the hard work that farmers put into making sure there is steady produce available both in America and internationally. He chose this career because he wants to be able to provide protection and consultation for farmers when times may be tough.

Bennet has been married to his wife, Hadley, since 2012, and they have two children, Anna Bennett and Margo.

Jacob Johnson
Jacob JohnsonAg Risk Consultant
Bio
Jacob Johnson lives in Wilson, North Carolina and works primarily in eastern NC. He helps farmers navigate the ever-changing world of agriculture risk in an area that is also in the process of changing what they grow and how they grow it. Using federally subsidized and private crop insurance products, Jacob works tirelessly to make sure his growers are aware of where their risk lies and ways to alleviate that risk while maintaining a profit under ever-increasing tight margins.

Jacob has been a crop insurance agent for three years now and has worked with farmers that grow tobacco, cantaloupes, and everything in between. Jacob was a crop adjuster for over ten years before becoming an agent, working for companies such as ADM, Climate Corp, and NAU. It was as an adjuster that Jacob really developed a heart and desire for helping NC farmers. Due to his (literal) time on the ground, Jacob has a perspective and understanding of crop insurance that few can offer.

Jacob has a wife named Becky to whom he’s been married for 13 years. They have three children, Clark, Addie, and Clay. Like any family with three young children, Jacob and Becky find themselves very busy with church, school, and sports but consider themselves blessed to be that busy with three healthy children. Since Becky is a public school librarian and has summers off, they try to relax (and stay cool) by getting to the beach and to the pool as often as possible!

Bio
Lydia Yoder has been working with growers in the Southeast since 2007. She enjoys interacting with and helping farmers, because she especially enjoys eating the food they raise. When she isn’t helping clients, she can be found on her back porch hanging out with her chickens and a good book, playing in the kitchen, or running on her quiet country road.

Lydia’s favorite roles in life are being a big sister to her three sisters and four brothers (affectionately known as the 7Wonders), as well as being an auntie and Nana. She and her husband enjoy camping, in pleasant weather, in a camper. She’s never met a roller coaster she hasn’t loved, which serves her well in the world of ag risk.

Mary Katherine Harrington

Bio
Mary Katherine Harrington grew up on a traditional southern row cropping operation in Bamberg, South Carolina. Because of her enthusiasm and love for the American farmer, she attended Clemson University. She graduated in 2018, earning a degree in Agricultural Mechanization and Business, as well as a minor in Plant Environmental Science. Mary Katherine’s purpose for pursuing a degree in ag was not to become a farmer, but to aid other farmers. Following graduation, Mary Katherine returned home to live on the family farm alongside her family and husband, where she serviced multiple lower state counties as the Clemson Cooperative Extension Row Crop Agent. MK made the decision to join the Silveus Southeast team in December of 2018. MK is fortunate to see and understand crop insurance from both the agent and farmer perspective. She is located in Bamberg, SC still today where she and her husband intend to carry the family farm on to the fifth generation. In her free time, MK enjoys hunting, shooting sporting clays, and visiting her alma mater, Clemson University, to reconnect with friends and family for sporting events.
